Cops and paramedics have raced to the A82 after a two-vehicle smash.
The alarm was raised to police at around 8:45pm this afternoon following a road traffic collision on the busy route.
The crash involved two vehicles and happened just south of Inverness on the A82.
Police have shut down the road in both directions while they deal with the incident.
It's understood at least one ambulance is also at the scene this evening.
Traffic Scotland issued motorists with this warning: "A82 is CLOSED in both directions between Tomnahurich Roundabout (Inverness) - Drumnadrochit due to a serious RTC.
The added that the road, which closed shortly after 8pm, is likely to remain closed for some time."
It's not yet known if anyone has been injured in the crash.
Police Scotland said: "The A82 is closed in both directions between the Tomnahurich Swing Bridge in Inverness and Drumnadrochit at the junction with A831 due to a road crash.
"There is a diversion in operation via A831/ A833 - Cannich to Beauly Road on the south side and General Booth Road/A862/A833 to the north.
"It is anticipated the road will be closed for some time Your patience during this time is greatly appreciated."
