Cops provide cash boost for local good causes

Officers presented bumper cheques to two local charities following their successful open day at Dumbarton Police Office.

A total of £1320 has been split between youth organisation Y Sort It and St Augustine's Food for Thought programme thanks to the event on Saturday, August 3.

Last week, representatives from both charities came to Dumbarton Police Office to receive their cheques from Superintendent Kenny Armstrong and PC Tracy Melvin.

A further £1600 was raised for the Care of Police Survivors (COPS) charity through sales of teddy bears, police outfits for the kids and other police related memorabilia.

COPS is a UK registered charity dedicated to helping the families of police officers who have lost their lives on duty.

Further to this, CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) attended the event and raised a further £152 at their stall.

In total, an incredible £3072 was raised for the chosen charities.
