Cops probe death of man in Paisley

Police have launched an investigation following the sudden death of a man in Paisley.

Emergency services were called to a house at Byres Crescent in the Gallowhill area of the town at around 7am on Saturday.

The 52-year-old man, who has not been identified, is believed to have taken ill while at his home.

Officers who are carrying out an inquiry into the incident said they are treating it as unexplained.

Police said they do not believe it to be suspicious but are conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death.

Cops cordoned off the street and set up a white tent in the garden at the property as forensic teams scoured the area.

Investigators in white suits were busy carrying out a finger tip examination of the property throughout the day.

Police confirmed they are probing the sudden death and that their investigation is continuing.

A police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services were called around 7am on Saturday, 9 May, 2020, following the report of a sudden death of a 52-year-old man in Byres Crescent in Paisley.

“The death is being treated as unexplained but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
