Cops probe attempted murder after man, 62, hospitalised in North Lanarkshire

Police have launched an attempted murder investigation after a man was left hospitalised in North Lanarkshire.

A 62-year-old man was rushed to Monklands Hospital following an incident in Glenboig on Friday, March 5.

Emergency services were called to the scene at a property on Gainside Road around 4.50pm.

He is said to be in a stable condition.

Officers are understood to be following a positive line of enquiry into the incident which they say they are treating as attempted murder.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 4.50pm on Friday, 5 March, police were called to a property in Gainside Road, Glenboig, after a 62 year old man was assaulted within.

“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to Monklands Hospital, where medical staff describe his condition as stable.

“The incident is being treated as attempted murder and enquiries are continuing.”
