Cops on horseback patrol Falkirk street after 'thugs run riot'

Mounted cops were spotted patrolling an area of Falkirk last night as they try to tackle anti-social behaviour.

Officers took to Bonnybridge after reports of thugs running riot over the past few weeks.

It's hoped the crackdown will reduce the number of complaints to police about things like vandalism and large gatherings in parks.

Police Scotland took to Facebook last week to make locals aware of the move.

The post read: "In the coming weeks, Bonnybridge Community officers will be conducting dedicated anti-social behaviour (ASB) patrols in the Toll, Duncan Stewart Memorial Park, Bonnyfield Nature Reserve and Seabeggs Wood areas of Bonnybridge.

"This initiative has been set up to tackle reports of increased anti-social behaviour (ASB), including disorder and fire raising, taking place in these areas.

"The main aim of this initiative is to; disrupt, deter and reduce ASB, reassure the local community whilst improving the quality of life for local residents and people who visit these areas and create a safe environment for everyone.

"The Community officers will be working alongside our volunteer Special Constables and officers from Police Scotland’s mounted branch.

"Anyone who is experiencing ASB can contact Police on 101 or if the enquiry is non-urgent, you can contact the local ward officers; Constables Marc Stirling and Lynsey Scott at: bonnybridgelarbertcpt@scotland.pnn.police.uk"
