BRIEF: Cops: Man attempted to lure girl, 16, on Northwest Side

Oct. 29--Chicago police are asking for the public's help after a man attempted to lure a 16-year-old girl into his pickup truck Tuesday in the Gladstone Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The incident happened at 3:15 p.m. in the 5900 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue, police said.

The girl was walking home from school when she spotted a man who had exited his black pickup truck and approached her, police said. The man told her to "come here" and attempted to hug the girl, police said.

The man then pulled her by the shoulder but she ran off and escaped, police said. The man got into his truck and fled south on Milwaukee Avenue, police said.

The man was described as white, 35 to 45 years old and 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10. He had a large bump on the bridge of his nose, was unshaven and had acne on his jaw line.

The man was wearing a green jacket, blue jeans and a brown knit cap. The truck was a newer model. The man spoke with an accent, possibly European, police said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8261.
