Cops make fresh plea to find missing Linwood man Edward Dallas

A fresh appeal has been made to help trace a Linwood man who vanished ten years ago.

Photography student Edward Dallas, 47, disappeared without a trace in March 2010, with no one in his family hearing from him
again.

A decade on from his mysterious disappearance, detectives are now re-examining his missing person file in an effort to find any fresh leads about where he might have gone.

Officers investigating also hope that during the government-imposed lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis, people may have more time to remember anything that could lead police to tracing him.

Edward left his mum and dad’s house in Bridge of Weir Road, Linwood, around 7am on March 2, 2010, lifted cash from Paisley High Street and then fell off the radar.

Despite numerous public appeals, false sightings and searches, his aunt Grace Adams, who took up the search when Edward’s mum Betty passed away, and has tried everything she can to bring him home.

Police have investigated a number of leads in the case, including the Reid Kerr College student’s strong interest in Buddhism which meant he visited retreats alone.

Edward also had a connection in England when he worked as a carer in Birmingham.

Investigations have been carried out by officers south of the border to establish if he returned.

Detective Sergeant Euan McMillan, of Paisley CID, is hoping now is the perfect time to help gather some new information.

He said: “We are hoping just now that people might be able to give us some more information about Edward or his whereabouts.

“Because of the lockdown, more people are at home and more people will be spending time online and on social media.

“We are hoping more people will see the appeal and possibly remember something that would help us.

“We are really keen to generate some interest in this case as it has now been ten years since Edward disappeared and the family are understandably keen to have some form of closure.

“His parents have both passed away and it is his aunt who is still searching for him.
