Cops lock down Coatbridge Sunnyside station after 'teenager' taken to hospital

Cops have locked down a Lanarkshire train station after a 'teenager' was injured and taken to hospital.

Emergency services raced to Coatbridge Sunnyside at around 5.15pm today and taped off the entrance to the car park.

Trains are unable to call at the station while emergency services dealt with the incident.

Locals claims a teenager was seriously assaulted by a gang of youths.

A police statement said: "A young man has been taken to hospital and enquiries are ongoing."

ScotRail has advised commuters there is no access to the car park or the station at this time.

"Blairhill or Coatdyke are the nearest stations.

"There is no access to the station or car park, while emergency services deal with an incident."

The disruption is expected to last until 10pm.

British Transport Police has been contacted for comment.
