Cops launch urgent search after two dogs snatched from Scots kennel

Cops have launched an urgent appeal after two dogs were snatched from their West Lothian kennels.

It it believed two people stole the animals from Almondell Lodge yesterday and officers are now hunting for the dogs.

A blue Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle was captured on CCTV breaking into the grounds on Sunday.

Two people got out of the car and forced their way into a shed - stealing two cocker spaniels, Edinburgh Live reports.

An investigation is now underway to try and reunite the dogs with their owners, and find those responsible for the theft.

Police have appealed for any information regarding the incident and are searching for motorists with dashcams who may have been in the Almondell area on Sunday.

It is hoped that anyone with a dashcam may have captured images of the Mitsubishi which could assist officers in their enquiries.

Dog thefts in Edinburgh and the Lothians have been on the rise in the last year, with figures obtained by Edinburgh Live last summer showing a doubling in the number of incidents compared to the previous year.

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland via 101, quoting incident number 3582 of 7 March, 2021. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where you can give your information anonymously.
