Cops launch probe in Erskine after van deliberately torched

Police are searching for witnesses after a van was torched in Erskine.

Renfrewshire cops were called to the scene on Baird Avenue at 10.30pm on October 24 after the fire was started.

Police now believe the blaze was a deliberate act and investigations are ongoing.

Thankfully there were no injuries.

Detective Constable Gary Bruce, of Paisley CID, said: “Thankfully nobody has been injured as a result of this thoughtless act.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are now appealing for the assistance of the public. I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time and noticed anyone acting suspicious that you get in contact with officers.

“If you were driving in the area and have any dashcam footage that could assist with our investigation I would urge you to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4159 of 24 October, 2020.
