Cops have launched a probe after a man approached a 10-year-old girl in a Scots park on Tuesday evening.
The schoolgirl was not harmed in the incident but has been left traumatised after the man spoke to her around 8.45pm in the Glebe Crescent area of Maybole.
It is understood the man, who had a golden retriever type dog with him, asked the girl to go to his van with him but she managed to run away.
A post on social media warning local parents of the incident was widely circulated online and police have now launched a probe into the incident.
The man is described as quite tall and of slim build.
It is possible he was wearing a hat or had his hood up.
The young girl was extremely frightened by the incident and police say they will be giving the area extra attention.
Detective Constable Suzanne Gardiner from the Public Protection Unit said: “This has been a frightening experience for the young girl involved and we are keen to trace the man in question.
“Anyone who may have seen someone fitting his description in the area that night or who has any information, is asked to contact police via 101 quoting incident reference 3676 of 17 August.
“Enquiries are ongoing and officers will give the area extra attention.”
