Cops launch probe after firebugs torch front door of home in Paisley

Police are appealing for witnesses after firebugs set the front door of a Paisley home alight.

Emergency services raced to Motehill Road, in Gallowhill, in the early hours of yesterday morning following a call about a property on fire.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze - which caused damage to the front of the house - around 4.30am.

No one was injured in the incident, but detectives have now launched an investigation and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the “reckless act” to speak up.

Detective Constable Laura Sokolov, of Paisley CID, said: Thankfully, nobody was injured as a result of this reckless act.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are keen to trace those responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or who has any information which may assist us in relation to this to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting incident 0428 of August 10.
