Cops launch probe after ex-Rangers star Nacho Novo is filmed scrapping with man in East Kilbride street fight

A violent street brawl involving ex-Rangers star Nacho Novo in East Kilbride Village is being investigated by police.

East Kilbride cops confirmed today they are making enquiries into the shocking incident which was filmed and shared online today.

The 40-year-old Spanish striker was filmed on Hunter Street in the town late on Saturday night.

In the clip Novo can be seen throwing a number of punches to a hooded man's face.

Several men, as well as Novo, are involved in the scrap.

Novo falls to the floor before getting up and walking towards another man further down the road towards its junction with Main Street and Stuart Street.

Onlookers can be heard shouting "Nacho" and telling him to calm down as he continues to fight.

After separating the pair the ex-footy ace, who also played for Raith Rovers, Dundee and Greenock Morton, is held back by three women and a man.

East Kilbride police inspector Aidan Higgins told the East Kilbride News: "We have not received any complaint regarding this incident which has been shared online, however we are now carrying out a criminal investigation and working to establish the circumstances.

"Any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist us should contact East Kilbride Police Office through 101 quoting incident number 3307 of 9th March."
