Cops launch manhunt for hi-vis thug who attacked stranger on Scots street

Police have launched a probe after a man was attacked on a Scots street in an unprovoked attack by a stranger clad in hi-vis clothing.

The victim was attacked in broad daylight in Coupar Angus, Perth and Kinross, on Wednesday.

He was walking in the town's Commercial Street at around 12.20pm when he was approached by the stranger.

The attacker then punched him in the head, before bombarding him with a tirade of verbal abuse and threats.

He then walked off after the assault, which left the victim uninjured.

And officers from Police Scotland have launched a manhunt in a bid to track down the thug responsible.

A post on the Tayside Police Division Facebook page read: "We are currently investigating an alleged assault which took place about 12:20pm on Wednesday 3rd March.

"A man was approached by a complete stranger in the street and punched in the head in an unprovoked assault.

"Fortunately he wasn’t injured. The person responsible proceeded to verbally abuse and threaten the victim before walking off.

"Officers would like to trace a man described as white, in his 30s, about 6ft in height and with short dark hair, who was wearing a fluorescent yellow workman-type jacket."

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, quoting incident 1208 of March 3, 2021.

Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
