Oct. 30--Residents on the city's Near West Side are being warned of robberies and burglaries that have happened over the last 10 days, police said.
Chicago Police Department officials issued three separate warnings Wednesday night.
In the first, police noted robberies in the 1500 block of West 18th Street in Pilsen about 9:30 p.m. Oct. 21. The second happened two days later about 11:15 a.m. Oct. 23. That incident was in the 2000 block of South Hoyne Street in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood.
The robbers were described by police as Hispanic men from 22 to 30 years old, about 5-foot-9 and about 160 or 165 pounds.
The two other alerts warned of burglaries and offered vague times and no descriptions of who may have burglarized the buildings.
One cluster of burglaries was reported in the area of Warren Boulevard and California Avenue in the Near West Side neighborhood: 3000 block of West Washington Boulevard during the day Oct. 21, the 2600 block of West Warren Avenue during the day Oct. 21, the 2900 block of West Washington Boulevard during the day Oct. 21, the 2600 block of West Warren Avenue during the evening Oct. 22 and the 3000 block of West Fulton Boulevard during the morning Oct. 26.
The other cluster was near Ashland Avenue and Madison Street in the same neighborhood: the 0-100 block of South Laflin Street during the day Oct. 21, the 1500 block of West Monroe Street between Oct. 21 and Oct. 23 and the 0-100 block of South Laflin Street during the morning Oct. 24.
The community alerts serve as warnings but also ask residents to report suspicious activity and try to remember physical characteristics for the sake of reporting information to police.
