Police in Lanarkshire have warned hairdressers and gyms to stop breaking the rules after members of the public tipped- off officers of lockdown breaches.

Officers say some business owners have been ignoring the lockdown rules and continuing to take customers.

Multiple fines have now been handed out and police say they will continue taking action against those ignoring the coronavirus laws.

Inspector Graeme McLaughlin said: "Officers in Lanarkshire division continue to explain the regulations and encourage people to do the right thing.

"They are responding to reports of members of the public breaking the restrictions and business premises, particularly gyms and hairdressers, who are not exempt from the restrictions, remaining open or being operated from home addresses.

"Police Scotland take these matters seriously and will continue to do so. As a result, a number of persons have been fined or reported to the in respect of the failure to adhere to restrictions.”
