Cops hunting three yobs after attempted armed robbery at Aberdeen shop

Cops are hunting three yobs wanted in connection with an attempted armed robbery in Aberdeen.

An investigation has been launched after three young males, one of whom had a knife, demanded cash from a convenience store in the Garthdee area just before 8pm on Monday.

The youths barged into the Gaitside Stores premises on Gaitside Drive and ordered a member of staff to hand over money but left empty handed when the employee refused.

The shop worker then managed to get the yobs out of the store..

The suspects are all described as young males with slim builds. They were wearing dark coloured clothing and face coverings.

One man was in a grey coloured hooded jumper and black trousers as one suspect also spoke with a local accent.

After leaving the store the suspects fled on foot in the direction of Inchbrae Terrace, Aberdeen.

Detective Sergeant Kirsten Douglas said: “The men’s demands were refused by a staff member who managed to get them to leave the store.

“Officers carried out a thorough search of the area and we are seeking any witnesses to the incident to come forward.

"We believe at least one of the men spoke with a local accent and we’d ask anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour around the Garthdee area on Monday to report this to officers so that we can investigate."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 and quote incident number 3428 of 20 September.

An anonymous report can also be made to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
