Cops hunting knife thugs who mugged Scots teen launch re-appeal one month on

Police hunting two thugs who mugged a teen in North Lanarkshire have launched a re-appeal in a bid to trace the attackers.

The 19-year-old man was robbed at knife point on Southburn Road in Airdrie at around 7.30pm on Tuesday, December 8 2020.

Two men with English accents followed their victim as he walked from the town's Kennedy Drive onto Deeds Street.

They followed him along Deedes Street to a Shop Local store and then onto Southburn Road, where the thugs pounced, threatening the teen with a knife outside a lane leading to lock-up garages.

They swiped the victim's wallet and made off towards Centenary Avenue.

Both suspects are described as black, between 17 and 20-years-old, around five foot, ten inches tall and of a slim build.

The first suspect  was wearing a beanie hat, dark-coloured jacket and black trousers and carrying an Adidas rucksack.

Meanwhile the second suspect was wearing wearing black trousers and a black, puff-style jacket.

Both suspects spoke with English accents, possibly London accents.

Detective Constable Chris Armstrong said: “We have carried out extensive enquries to trace the two men responsible for this attack but we have not yet been able to identify them.

"However, our investigation continues and I would again urge people with information that may assist our investigation to contact Coatbridge Police Station through 101, quoting reference number 2863 of 8 December 2020.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
