Cops hunt yobs after man is attacked and mugged in Paisley street

Detectives are hunting two thugs who battered and robbed a man in broad daylight.

The 27-year-old victim suffered injuries to his face and leg after being pounced on by the vicious yobs in Dunn Street, Paisley, on Tuesday afternoon.

Cops probing the robbery, which happened around 2.30pm, said the suspects made off with a three-figure sum of cash.

It’s understood they approached the victim and engaged him in conversation before launching the mindless assault.

The victim suffered facial injuries and was left badly shaken by the ordeal, but did not require hospital treatment.

Given the time of day, police hope members of the public may have heard or saw what happened.

Officers are carrying out door-to-door enquiries in the area as well as checking CCTV.

Detective Ian Ross, from Paisley CID, appealed for witnesses to come forward.

He told the Express: “A 27-year-old man was assaulted and robbed in Dunn Street, Paisley, at around 2.30pm on Tuesday.

“He was approached by two men, who then struck him on the head and body before stealing a three-figure sum of cash.

“The victim suffered facial injuries in the attack, but did not require hospital treatment.”

“This was a violent and nasty robbery, which took place in the street.

He added: “We are very keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened.

“It is possible there may have been shouting in the street during the incident, which may have drawn the attention of members of the public.

“It is likely there were there people in the area, and we would like to hear from them.

“If you have dashcam footage or private CCTV that you think may be useful to our investigation, please get in touch.”
