Cops hunt three men who robbed and hospitalised man in Lanarkshire street

A man needed hospital treatment after being attacked and robbed in an East Kilbride street last night.

The incident took place in a lane between Ayton Park North and Maxwellton Avenue in Calderwood at around 10.30pm where a police cordon remains in place this morning.

The 38-year-old victim was approached by three men and assaulted before being robbed of his mobile phone.

He was treated for a head injury at Hairmyres Hospital but his injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police said enquiries are ongoing while CID carry out their investigations.

Sergeant Scott Anderson told Lanarkshire Live : "At about 10.30pm on Thursday, January 13 at the lane between Ayton Park North and Maxwellton Avenue, East Kilbride a 38-year-old male was approached by three males and assaulted.

"The males proceeded to steal his mobile phone before making off. The male attended Hairmyres Hospital for treatment, however, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

"No suspects are identified at this time and police enquiries continue."
