Cops hunt three men after car deliberately torched in Edinburgh street

Cops are hunting for three men after a vehicle was deliberately set on fire in an Edinburgh street.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to a blaze on Rutherford Drive in the Gilmerton area of the capital at around 10.30pm on Saturday, April 11, after a fire was deliberately started.

Police are particularly interested to speak with three male suspects wearing tracksuits with hoods who were seen in the area where the incident took place.

Any witnesses are asked to assist police with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Christina Yeoman, of Gayfield CID, said: “Thankfully the fire was quickly brought under control by the fire service.

"However the consequences of this act could have been much worse and we are eager to trace those responsible.

"We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen men matching this description or any suspicious vehicles in the area at the time”.

Anyone with information can contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 4700 of 11 April, or can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
