Cops hunt sick yobs after memorial flags stolen from Falkirk park

Police in Falkirk are in the hunt for a group of yobs after two memorial flags were ripped from their mast in a park.

Locals alerted officers after at least four males and a female were spotted running away from The Sir John de Graeme Memorial Fountain in Victoria Park, shortly before 4:30pm on Thursday July 15.

A probe has now started and anyone with information is being asked to call cops.

Those who live in the area have taken to social media to express their anger, with one saying: "It's been beautiful weather for the last two weeks and these idiots want to vandalise and nick things in broad daylight.

"They're needing to get away out on an adventure and entertain themselves. And not causing havoc and upset."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police were called around 4.25pm on Thursday, July 15 following the theft of flags from a memorial within Victoria Park, Falkirk.

"Inquiries are currently ongoing to trace those responsible."
