Cops hunt 'mindless' thugs who wrecked Falkirk War Memorial

Police in Falkirk are on the hunt for 'mindless' thugs who vandalised a war memorial in the town.

Officers were called after a flagpole, with a Union Jack attached to it, was damaged at the Carronshore War Memorial between Kincardine Road and Carronshire Road.

They think it happened sometime between 10pm on Saturday April 17, and 8.15am on Sunday April 18.

The pole was snapped and thrown on Kincardine Road.

Constable Graeme Brown, of Larbert Police station, said: "I am sure members of the community will be extremely disappointed by this mindless act of vandalism.

"This kind of behaviour will not be tolerated and I am appealing to anyone who may have any information in connection to come forward.

"If you live in the area and have CCTV or were driving at the time and have a dash-cam, please check back and see if there is any footage that could assist our investigation.

"Those with information can contact police on 101, quoting reference number 0946 of 18 April, or if they wish to remain anonymous, can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
