Cops hunt man in relation to broad daylight assault in Edinburgh

Police have released CCTV footage of a man they think could help with its investigation into a broad daylight assault in Edinburgh.

A 30-year-old man was attacked on Nicholson Street, in the Southside area of the city, at around 2.30pm on Friday, January 17.

The victim needed hospital treatment as a result of the incident.

Officers from Police Scotland believe the man in the images may be able to help with their ongoing enquiries into the incident.

He, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to come forward.

The man is shown as wearing a black jacket, black trousers and brown shoes.

Detective Constable Christina Yeoman said: “Nicolson Street would have been busy at the time of this incident.

"We are appealing to members of the public who recognise the person in this image, or who have information that may assist with our enquiries, to get in touch.

“Anyone with information can contact Gayfield CID via 101, quoting incident number 2133 of January 17 or an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
