Cops are hunting a man after a young woman was knocked to the ground in a shocking Cumbernauld attack.
The 21-year-old woman had been walking in Hill Road at around 5.25am on Sunday, July 18.
A man approached her from behind, while she was near to the underpass at Berry Hill Road, and knocked her to the ground.
The victim was not injured in the incident but was left 'extremely upset'.
Police have now launched an investigation and are hunting the suspect.
He is described as between 5ft 5inces to 6ft tall, of thin build, has blonde/ginger hair and was wearing a light-coloured baseball cap.
Detective Constable Katy Goldie of Coatbridge CID said: “The woman was walking near to the underpass at Berry Hill Road when a man approached her from behind and knocked her to the ground. She was unhurt but extremely upset by the incident.
“We are carrying out a review of CCTV and door to door enquiries in effort to identify the man. He has been described as between 5ft 5inces to 6ft tall, of thin build, with blonde/ginger hair and was wearing a light coloured baseball cap,
“I would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time who witnessed the assault, or anyone who has information that will assist this investigation to contact us through 101 quoting reference number 0917 of Sunday 18 July Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
