Cops hunt group of thugs after late-night weapons attack in Dumbarton

Cops are hunting a gang of thugs who attacked a man with weapons in West Dunbartonshire over the weekend.

The 33-year-old victim was seriously assaulted by a group of men in Dumbarton at around 11.50pm on Saturday, June 6.

The late night attack took place in the town's Ardoch Crescent.

Attackers brandished a number of different weapons during the horror incident.

Following the incident the victim was raced to the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley where he was treated for his injuries.

Officers from Police Scotland are now following a positive line of enquiry, putting extra officers in the local area.

Cops are now urging anyone with information to come forward.

Chief Inspector Scott Carlin, said: “Violence and antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated and will be dealt with robustly.

"We have additional officers on patrol in the area and I would encourage anyone with concerns to speak to them.

“It is important that we trace those responsible and colleagues in CID are following a positive line of enquiry however I would urge anyone with any information that may assist this enquiry to contact police.”
