Cops hunt gang who terrorised teens in Paisley near rail station

Police are hunting a gang of armed youths who chased three teenagers through Paisley.

The frightened 17-year-olds were passing Paisley Canal rail station around 1.40am on Saturday when they were targeted by an out-of-control mob.

One of the suspects pulled a weapon on the trio and they ran towards Espedair Street.

They were able to escape unharmed but now officers are appealing for information.

Chief Inspector Dougie Falconer, area commander for Paisley, has asked for help in identifying
them.

He said: “Three teenagers were chased by a group of youths as they passed Paisley Canal rail station at around 1.40am on Saturday.

“One of the suspects brandished a weapon at the youths during the incident.

“Thankfully, none of the victims were harmed but have been left badly shaken.

“We are keen to trace those responsible for chasing them. Although it was late at night there may have been taxis or people heading home from a night out.”

He added: “I’d like to ask anyone who may have been driving in the area with dashcam footage to check if they captured anything which may be useful for our investigation. Please get in touch if you find anything which you may be of
help.

“If you saw or heard anything we would like to hear from you.”

Meanwhile, two men have been arrested over an alleged machete attack in George Street, in the west end of Paisley on Friday.

The pair, aged 22 and 23, are said to have targeted another man during a disturbance and attacked him with weapons.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed two men had been arrested and charged with serious assault in connection with the incident.

They are expected to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court.
