Cops hunt gang of thugs after teen attacked and robbed in Ayrshire town

A manhunt has been launched for a gang of thugs who assaulted and robbed a teenager in North Ayrshire.

The 17-year-old was attacked in the early hours of Sunday morning at around 12.45am on March 15 on Dalry Road in Kilwinning.

He was walking by a parked bus when he was followed by a group of men, one of whom picked up his wallet after he dropped it.

But when the teenager tried to get it back, he was tripped and assaulted as he fell to the ground.

He was then attacked by another man who had gotten off the bus while trying to retrieve it for a second time.

Officers from Police Scotland are now appealing for information over the incident.

Detective Constable Ross Keenan, of North Ayrshire CID, said: "This was a random and unprovoked attack on a teenager that has left him shaken.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or who may have seen the parked bus

"Those with any information can contact Police on 101 quoting incident 0259 of 15 March.

"Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
