Cops hunt for balaclava knife thug who threatened to rob East Kilbride shop

Detectives are appealing for information following an assault with intent to rob incident which occurred in East Kilbride yesterday.

The incident occurred on Wednesday 27 March at round 7.10pm as two women were working within My Local Store on Cedar Drive when a man wearing a balaclava entered.

He produced a knife and proceeded to assault the 40 year old female member of staff, demanding money.

The suspect then left the premises empty handed and made off along Cedar Drive, in the direction of St Andrews Methodist Church.

He is described as wearing a balaclava, a black bomber-style jacket with a fluorescent green zip and grey jogging bottoms. He was also carrying a black rucksack.

Four East Kilbride paedophiles snared as cops launch campaign to catch online child sex predators Constable Craig Jolly from Cambuslang CID said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the two women working in the store, and thankfully nobody was left seriously injured or requiring hospital treatment.

“This despicable individual must be caught and I would appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Cedar Drive yesterday evening to consider whether they saw anything suspicious or noticed a man matching the above description making off from the scene.

“I would also urge any motorists with dashcams to check their footage in case they have captured anything which could be of significance to our investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Cambuslang CID via 101, quoting incident number 3479 of Wednesday 27 March 2019. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
