In nearby Renfrew a white Ford Fiesta, registration number PY66 NUC, was taken from a property in the town's Kenley Road between 6pm on Friday and 11am on Saturday.

Police 'are keeping an open mind' as to whether the two callous incidents are connected.

Officers probing the thefts are appealing to anyone with information, those who saw suspicious activity in either of the areas or locals with CCTV or dash cam footage to come forward.

Constable Stephen Solomon said: "Both the vehicles are still outstanding and enquiries are ongoing to trace the vehicles and those involved.

"We are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are connected.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard any suspicious activity in the areas at the times the vehicles were stolen.

"Perhaps you have seen these cars being driven since then?

"If you have any CCTV or dash-cam footage that cold assist with our enquiries, please get in touch.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.

"Please quote reference number 0936 of April 17."
