Cops find massive £250k weed haul following car stop on Scots motorway

A quarter of a million pounds worth of cannabis was found by cops after stopping a car on a Scots motorway.

Police discovered the massive 25kg haul of the class B during a stop yesterday on the M74 outside Lockerbie.

Two men have now been charged in connection with drug offences and were expected to appear in court today.

A statement  from Polic Scotland read: "Officers from Dumfries Road Policing Unit stopped a Toyota Corolla on the M74 northbound, at junction 18 near Lockerbie, around 11.45am yesterday.

"After a search, 25kg with an estimated street value of £250,000 was recovered.

"Two men aged 42 and and 17 have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 15 July, 2020.

"A full report has been sent to the Procurator Fiscal."

Detective Inspector Dean Little, of Dumfries CID, said: “This recovery shows our commitment to disrupting the supply of drugs in our communities.

“We will continue to work to track down those involved in this type of behaviour. However, we rely on information from the public to assist us in preventing drugs reaching our streets and any intelligence can help us take action.
