Cops find knife in drain near primary school as Glenrothes street sealed off

Cops have sealed off part of a street in Fife after a knife was discovered in a drain.

Police taped off part of Carfrae Drive in Glenrothes shortly after 6pm on Monday night, August 2.

Part of the playing fields next to the street, known locally as 'Maci field', were also cordoned off.

The dangerous weapon was found just a short distance from a primary school.

Police have launched a probe into the discovery but insist there is no ongoing risk to the public.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were made aware of a knife found in a drain on Carfrae Drive in Glenrothes shortly after 6pm on Monday August 2.

“The item has since been recovered. There was no ongoing incident or risk to the public and inquiries will be carried out to establish the full circumstances."
