Cops find huge ‘cannabis farm’ growing in town centre church

Police say they have discovered an alleged ‘cannabis farm’ within a disused church in a busy town centre.

Cops were alerted to the suspected drug den after reports of an alleged disturbance at around 11.30pm on Monday, January 24.

They say a door had been damaged on the former church, which had been used as a gym in recent years, leading them to discover a suspected cannabis haul of plants.

Officers did not identify which church, but it is believed to be the Church on the Hill, as they were called to the incident on High Street in Killamarsh, Derbyshire.

Enquiries are continuing and have appealed to the public for help, according to Derbyshire Live.

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: “Enquiries are currently ongoing, and officers will be in the area for some time,

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone nearby who may have any CCTV or dash cam footage from the area around that time.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Derbyshire Police online or by calling 101 quoting incident 22000046703.

Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
