Cops find £25,000 drug haul in Lanarkshire after series of stings

Cops have recovered more than £25,000 of drugs after a series of stings in Lanarkshire over the past week.

Police have claimed the total value of the narcotics is more than £25,000 from three different incidents.

Shortly after 4pm on Monday, 12 July, local officers from East Kilbride recovered £700 worth of cannabis and £600 worth of cocaine after a vehicle was stopped at Chalmers Crescent.

Two men, aged 18 and 22, were arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and were expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday, July 13.

About 8.45am on Thursday, July 15, Bellshill Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit recovered £11,800 worth of cannabis and £3,470 cash from properties at Greenhead Road and Barra Avenue, Wishaw .

A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and was released on an undertaking.

And at about 12.30pm on Friday, 16 July, Bellshill Divisional Alcohol and Violence Reduction Unit recovered £9,800 worth of cannabis and £2,760 worth of cocaine from a property at Lawhill Road, Carluke.

A 33-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the recovery and is excepted to appear at Lanark Sheriff Court on Tuesday, July 20.
