Cops discover 10kg of cannabis in motor pulled over for dodgy light on M74

A massive 10kg haul of cannabis has been discovered on the M74 after cops pulled over a motor for a dodgy light.

Officers from the Road Policing Unit stopped the Ford Fiesta at around 3.40pm Thursday, November 12, after clocking the defect on the car near Larkhall.

But further enquiries revealed several vacuum packed bags within the vehicle which are understood to have contained herbal cannabis worth an estimated £40,000.

Sharing pictures of the seized drugs, Road Policing Scotland claimed that the driver reportedly swapped seats with their passenger.

They tweeted: “Lanarkshire Road Policing stopped this car on the M74 earlier due to a faulty light.

“Driver swapped seats with the front passenger in front of us. No licence, no insurance. 10kg of cannabis being delivered.

“Both arrested and held for court.”

Two men, aged 26 and 21, have been arrested in relation to road traffic and drugs offences and are expected to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Friday, November 12.

Road Policing Constable Jack Swindells said: "Police Scotland is committed to tackling drug misuse and the Road Policing Unit will continue to play its part in disrupting the supply of illegal drugs into our communities."
