Cops close busy Scots road as crash left one person in hospital just minutes after second smash

A busy road in Aberdeenshire was closed by police after two accidents within 15 minutes of each other amid stormy weather.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the A92 Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, near Charleston, at around 1.30pm on Wednesday after a one vehicle crash.

Thankfully no one was injured and an ambulance was not required.

But just 15 minutes later, a second multi-vehicle collision took place which left one person in hospital.

Emergency services remain at the scene while recovery of the stricken vehicles.

The condition of the person is not currently known.

Traffic Scotland warned motorists to expect delays and diversions as police closed down the busy road shortly after 2.30pm.

They tweeted: “A92 is closed in both directions at Charleston due to two separate RTC’s.

“Emergency services on scene. Traffic is diverting locally.”

Police Scotland confirmed they were called to two separate crashes in the area on Wednesday afternoon.

A force spokesperson said: “Officers were called to the AWPR close to Charlestown, Aberdeen, at around 1.45pm on Wednesday, 3 February following a road traffic collision involving a number of vehicles.

“One person has been taken to hospital and recovery of the vehicles is ongoing.”

They added that the first crashed vehicle has since been recovered from the scene.
