Cops called to sudden death of one-year-old baby in Glasgow

A one-year-old baby died suddenly in Glasgow today.

Police were called to a property in Jura Street in the Govan area at around 9.20am this morning after receiving reports of the sudden death of the child.

The baby was taken to the city's Royal Hospital for Children but was pronounced dead a short time later.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances although the death is being treated as unexplained.

A post mortem will follow.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.20am on Thursday, 31 December, 2020, police received a report of the sudden death of a 1-year-old baby at a property in Jura Street, Glasgow.

“The baby was taken to the Royal Hospital for Children, however, pronounced dead a short time later.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances although the death is being treated as unexplained pending the results of a post mortem.”
