Cops called after 50 ‘covidiots’ gathered at Scots sports pitch

Police were forced to break up a 50-strong gathering at a sports pitch in East Renfrewshire at the weekend.

Officers received repeated calls of covidiots flouting the government's coronavirus advice to stay at home.

Police Scotland is calling on members of the public to behave responsibly and to follow all the restrictions which remain in place across the country.

East Renfrewshire Police tweeted: “This weekend we have continued to attend many complaints regarding adults and teens gathering on East Renfrewshire Council pitches.

“On one occasion we dispersed 50 at one location. Please act responsibly and know where your children are.

“Please follow Scottish Government advice.”

When asked by the Daily Record, the force confirmed no fines were issued but appropriate advice was given before the individuals were moved on.
