Cops break up late-night house party in Glasgow as three people arrested

Police were called to an address in Glasgow's Shawlands area last night after reports of a house party.

Cops arrived at an address in Waverly Street just before midnight and three people were arrested.

Eye witnesses said the street was filled with blue flashing lights and loud shouting.

He added: "I was just about to nod off for the night when I heard sirens blaring and cars driving at speed to the area. Not really sure what happened, but there was a lot of shouting

"Very unusual for this part of the city which is generally quite quiet. "

House gatherings are forbidden after all of mainland Scotland was placed into level four lockdown restrictions on Boxing Day in a bid to curb the spread of a new super strain of Covid.

Travel outside your own local authority area is banned as is gathering with anyone outside of your household.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 11.50pm on Saturday, 23 January, police were called to a report of a house party at an address in Waverley Street, Glasgow.

"Officers attended and three people were arrested and will be the subject of a report to the Procurator Fiscal."
