Cops break up crowd in Glasgow street after 'comments' made by man to young girl

Cops had to break up a crowd that gathered last night in Glasgow after a man allegedly made 'comments' to a young girl.

Officers descended on Scaraway Drive, in the Milton area of the city, at around 8.20pm last night to find that residents had gathered.

Locals say a man had made the lude comments to a child and had gathered to confront him.

But after cops broke up the crowd they found there had been no crime committed and gave advice to people there.

Cops have been increasingly cracking down on gatherings due to the coronavirus crisis.

Online locals said that the man may have been in a black car when he made the alleged comments.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Officers were called to an address on Scaraway Drive, Glasgow, around 8.20pm on Monday, 5 October, 2020, following reports of a crowd gathered outside after a man allegedly made comments towards a child.

“Officers attended and the crowd were dispersed. No criminality was established and suitable advice was given.

“Anyone wishing to report a crime should call Police Scotland on 101 or contact the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

There have been a number of similar gatherings and vigilante style protests across Scotland during lockdown.

In June dozens of officers swarmed on Charles Street, in the Royston area of Glasgow, after a huge crowd had formed outside a block of flats.

They alleged a child sex offender lived within.
