Cops book teacher for injuring 6-yr-old kid in Thane

THANE: The Thane police have booked a Vitawa-based school teacher for allegedly using corporal punishment on a six-year-old grade-1 student, which left him injured in the head.

The police said that based on the complaint of the child’s mother, the police registered a case against the teacher. According to the police, the incident took place on Monday.

When she went to the school to pick up her child, the accused teacher told her that her child is not coping with the studies and that she should make him complete his workbook. The mother-son duo left for home. Later in the evening, while the mother was combing her son’s hair, she found some scratches on his head and dry blood. When she asked him, he said that the teacher beat him up.

The mother immediately called the teacher but she gave evasive answers. When the boy’s father came home, she narrated the ordeal. Thereafter, the kid’s parents reported the incident to the Kalwa police.

The Kalwa police referred them to the Kalwa hospital and based on medical documents, the police registered a complain. The complaint also stated that on August 1, the teacher had pushed the boy due to which he was left injured. An offence has been registered under the juvenile Justice (care and protection of children). act 2015 and IPC section 324.
