Cops: Bar's security camera is stolen, but video left behind leads to arrests

March 18--A surveillance camera that police said was stolen along with cash and alcohol from a Woodstock bar had captured images that led to charges against two men.

Wesley Feller-Lawson, 20, of the 900 block of Irving Avenue in Woodstock, has been charged with felony burglary, and misdemeanor charges of theft under $500 and criminal damage to property, Woodstock police said in a news release.

Caleb Fringer, 21, of the same address, has been charged with criminal trespass to property, according to the release.

Police began their investigation into a possible burglary of the Liquid Blues Bar, 126 N. Benton St., on March 12 when the bar owners found one of the security cameras was missing.

During the investigation, police reviewed surveillance recordings by that missing camera on a video storage unit inside the bar. On that video, investigators saw the two white males, later identified as Feller and Fringer, officials said.

The men "unlawfully" entered the bar during the morning hours of March 10, said police Chief Robert Lowen.

After sharing camera images with the public Monday, police received multiple calls identifying the two men, Lowen said.

Police said the camera, six bottles of assorted alcohol and an undisclosed amount of money were stolen. The video camera has yet to be recovered, he said.

The two entered through a window, which was damaged during the burglary, authorities said.

The burglary was not noticed at first because bar owners said they did not realize items were missing and thought the window had simply fallen out of its frame due the building's age.

The two men were located Wednesday in the apartment near the bar where they were "temporarily residing," police said.

The two were taken to the Woodstock Police Department, where they were interviewed and later charged.

Fringer posted $150 bond and was released.

Feller-Lawson is in the McHenry County Jail on $5,000 bond. He is set to appear in court Monday.

Woodstock police said Friday they could not release the video "at this time."
