Cops armed with riot shields swoop on Edinburgh home after woman barricades herself inside

Police in riot gear swooped on a disturbance at a property in Edinburgh.

Officers were called to reports of a woman who had barricaded herself inside a house in Murrayburn Gardens, in the city, at around 2.45am on Wednesday morning.

Cops were joined by Scottish Fire and Rescue Teams at the scene.

A 49-year-old woman was later arrested around 7am this morning.

Images show riot police, equipped with shields, waiting outside the property before the woman was removed.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.45am on Wednesday, 2 December, 2020, police were called to a report of a woman causing a disturbance in Murrayburn Gardens, Edinburgh.

“Officers attended and found the woman had barricaded herself inside a property.

“Public Order trained officers were deployed and a 49 year old woman was arrested around 7am. Enquiries are continuing.”

The Daily Record have contacted Scottish Fire and Rescue for comment.
