Cops appealing for information after man assaulted at popular Scots beauty spot

Police have launched an investigation after a 64-year-old man was assaulted at a popular beauty spot during the coronavirus lockdown.

For the last seven weeks, Scots have been advised to stay indoors, only go outside when essential, and to try and stay two metres away from others when outside.

But the victim was pushed to the ground after being approached by two men at Linlithgow Loch, next to the West Lothian town's palace.

Officers are now appealing for information about the incident, which happened at around 8.30pm on Monday, 4 May, 2020.

The victim was uninjured during the assault, and police are trying to track down the man responsible.

The first suspect is described as being white, in his early 20s, 5ft 7ins tall and of medium build, with light brown short hair, with an earring and wearing dark clothing at the time.

The second suspect is described as being a white teenager, 5ft 7ins tall, and of slim build, with short curly hair, wearing dark clothing and black Adidas baggy bottoms on the day in question.

Detective Constable Barry Carlin, of Livingston CID, said: "We are looking for the public's assistance to help trace those involved.

"I would ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and has any information about what happened to get in contact with police."
