Cops appeal for witnesses over death of teen girl hit by car in Glasgow

Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenage girl was killed when she was knocked down by a car.

The 16-year-old was struck in Great Western Road, in Glasgow, on Saturday night, December 6.

Road Policing Officers in the city now wish to speak to any potential witnesses in a bid to establish exactly what happened.

Officers from Police Scotland were called to the incident, near to the junction of Garscadden Road South, at around 7.45pm following reports a pedestrian had been hit by a grey Ford Focus.

Police Scotland said the teenager was taken to The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where she passed away.

Sergeant Grant MacIver said: "A young girl has lost her life and our thoughts are with her family and friends.

"We are looking to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time or has CCTV or dash-cam footage to get in touch."

Anyone who can help the investigation should contact 101, quoting incident number 3177 of December 5.
