Cops appeal for witnesses after man who climbed onto Scots van suffers serious head injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man who climbed onto the back of a van suffered serious head injuries when he fell from it in Arbroath.

The man had climbed onto the vehicle when it stopped at traffic lights in Millgate, Arbroath near DeVito’s at 10:30pm on Saturday 22nd August.

He fell when the vehicle drove away after suffered serious head injuries.

He was rushed to hospital where he remains.

Officers have asked the public for help as they are keen to speak to the driver and trace the vehicle involved.

The van is described as a flatbed-type van with various pieces of equipment on it.

There is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of the driver, and we are looking to trace them as a potential witness to complete the investigation.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "As we mentioned previously, there is no suggestion of any wrongdoing on the part of the driver, and we are looking to trace them as a potential witness to complete the investigation.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed this incident, especially the driver of the van, and particularly from anyone who may have footage of it on their mobile phone, as some people were seen to be filming it at the time.If you can help us with our investigation, please call 101 or speak with any police officer.

"Our reference is incident 4673 of 22nd August."
