Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was spotted 'possibly covered in blood' walking along a busy road in Dumfries.

Officers from Police Scotland made the appeal after receiving a call about a man who appeared injured walking on the A75 near to Garroch roundabout at around 1.35am this morning, September 6.

Efforts by the cops to trace the man have so far failed.

He is described as being between 20 - 30 years old and was seen wearing a white top and blue jeans.

Cops took to social media to appeal for information.
