The 14-year-old was attacked by a man in woods next to Cairnwood Drive at around 3.30pm on Friday, May 29.

Detectives are now keen to speak to a man and a woman aged between 40 and 50 who were spotted walking in the area at the time of the incident.

The man is described as being bald and the woman was wearing a purple and light blue coloured top.

A manhunt was launched after the incident and the suspect is described as being in his mid 20s and of slim build.

He was wearing a light-blue patterned t-shirt, blue and grey shorts and a grey baseball cap.

The teenager sustained minor injuries but did not require any medical treatment.

A Police Scotland statement said: "Officers are continuing enquiries and they are appealing to anyone who was in the area between 2.30pm and 3.30pm on May 29, who may have information, to get in touch.

"Information should be passed to Lanarkshire CID through 101 quoting incident number 2611 of 29 May, 2020."
