Cops appeal for information after identifying man's body pulled from Scots river

Cops have appealed for information after identifying the body of a man pulled from a Scots river.

We told yesterday how the grim discovery was made in the waterway close to Glenwood Road in Glenrothes, at around 3.05pm on Saturday December 11.

Police have said the death is currently 'unexplained'.

This evening they said identification has been completed and urged anyone with information to come forward.

In a statement, police said: "Police in Fife have identified the body of a man who was found in water in Glenrothes on Saturday, 11 December, 2021.

"The man was discovered around 3.05pm on Saturday afternoon in water near Glenwood Road. Emergency services attended but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

Detective Inspector Michael Lynch, of Glenrothes CID, said: “Now that we know who this man is, we now need to establish, the circumstances surrounding his death.

"If anyone has any information which could assist our enquiries, I would ask them to contact us."
