Cops appeal for help over mystery disappearance of Scots joiner Kevin McGuire in 1994

Police Scotland have appealed for help in solving the mystery of missing joiner Kevin McGuire, who disappeared more than 27 years ago.

His sister Sharon Garvin, 48, made an emotional plea in the Sunday Mail last week to trace her older brother.

Now senior officers have revealed that the case is not closed and they are still committed to tracking him down. Kevin left his remote cottage in Stronachlachar, near Callander, Perthshire, on December 31, 1994, and got into his green Saab car after an argument with his wife of just five months.

With no trace since of the 27-year-old or his car, it is one of Scotland’s longest-running missing person cases.

Police Scotland have issued a fresh appeal for information.

Detective Inspector Craig Higgins, Missing Person Coordinator for Police Scotland, said: “Missing person cases are reviewed regularly and any new information received will be thoroughly assessed and acted on as appropriate.

“We remain in contact with the families of those who are missing and provide updates to them when appropriate to do so.

“If anyone has any information regarding the disappearance of Kevin McGuire, they should call 101.”
